Pioneering Imaging

The AKOYA CODEX™ technology (now known as PhenoCycler-Fusion) is an innovative tissue imaging system that enables the simultaneous analysis of dozens of proteins within a single tissue section while preserving the spatial organization of cells. It is based on cyclic immunofluorescence, where antibodies linked to unique DNA barcodes are used to recognize specific proteins. In each cycle, fluorescent probes bind to these barcodes, enabling protein imaging. The probes are then removed, and the cycle is repeated to image additional proteins.

Unlike traditional methods that are limited to analyzing only a few proteins at once, AKOYA CODEX™ allows the analysis of 40 or more markers, providing a much more comprehensive understanding of cellular composition and molecular interactions within the tissue. Additionally, the spatial arrangement of cells is maintained, allowing researchers to study not only which proteins are present, but also where they are located and how cells interact with one another.

AKOYA CODEX™ contributes to precision medicine by providing personalized information for disease diagnosis and treatment, and by accelerating the discovery of new therapeutic targets. The technology is supported by advanced software for processing and analyzing the generated data.
